Laser engraving produces a two-color product — the laser removes the top layer to reveal a contrasting color underneath. No gradients, no fine shading. Photos with strong contrast and clear outlines translate best. We convert your photo to a high-contrast image optimized for engraving.
Each leatherette has two layers — the laser burns through the top color to reveal the one beneath.

If your cat is all black or very dark, photograph them against a light wall or white sheet. Side lighting helps pick up fur texture and facial features that the laser can capture. We'll work with you to get the best result — if a photo won't engrave well, we'll let you know and ask for another.
Light/white cats → Black/Gold or Grey patch (dark background makes light fur pop).
Orange/tabby cats → Rawhide or Sand (warm tones complement warm fur).
Dark/black cats → Sand or Rawhide (light background shows dark features best).

We'll review every photo before engraving. If it won't translate well, we'll let you know and ask for an alternative. No one gets a bad hat.
